Reanne Neufer-Rothermel

Reanne Rothermel, born on May 11, 1990, in Brownwood, Texas, attended both elementary and high school at May Independent School District in May, Texas. Her passion for art developed early, inspired by her mother's creative pursuits. With an overactive imagination, Reanne often immersed herself in worlds of fantasy and magic. As she grew older, these imaginary realms became more complex and intriguing, while reality felt increasingly mundane in comparison. She yearned to bring her fantastical creations to life, but reality led her down a different path.

At the age of 19, Reanne enlisted in the United States Army, where she served for eight years. During her service, she completed one tour of deployment and moved to several locations, both foreign and domestic. She became a mother to two spirited daughters, who were the primary reason for her decision not to reenlist. Just before her 27th birthday, Reanne accepted her honorable discharge from the Army and began her transition to civilian life.

In 2019, Reanne relocated to Denver, Colorado, where she enrolled at the Art Institute of Denver, majoring in culinary arts. However, when COVID-19 struck in 2020, she had to postpone her studies and take on a full-time job. In 2021, she seized the opportunity to return to her education, embarking on a new artistic journey. Having suppressed her passions for much of her life, Reanne decided to pursue what truly inspired her—drawing. She enrolled at the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design and was accepted.

From 2021 to 2024, Reanne has focused on specializing in fantasy art. She employs a maximalist cartoon style across both digital and traditional painting media. With meticulous attention to detail, her work infuses a palpable sense of realism while transporting viewers to otherworldly realms. Through the windows of her imagination, she brings to life extraordinary characters and settings that can challenge societal norms, delving into the full spectrum of human emotion—from innocence to the darker, often concealed aspects within us all. Her work is both inspiring and unsettling, adept at revealing specific facets of human nature. Acknowledging the complexity of art and the human psyche, she approaches diverse ideas with an open mind and empathy. This adaptability allows Reanne to collaborate effectively with visionaries eager to bring their imaginative worlds to life. By nurturing a shared vision with her clients, she fosters meaningful connections and thrives on clear communication and guidance.

Reanne will graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Rocky Mountain College of Arts + Design April 2025.
